FL trip day 1

Well we got a late start leaving TX yesterday and finally made it on the road by 11:30 AM. (my goal was on the road by 9:00) The kids were very eager to get a move on. It was hard to leave the dogs behind but Papa & Lois promised to take good care of them. The kids did really well on the drive, considering we did a good part of the day without the portable DVD player, and we ended up stopping in Covington, LA for the night at a La Quinta by about 9:15 PM. The kids were all ready for a break and some TV time. Merlova wanted to take a bath. We let them stay up to past 10 PM and all had a good night sleep. We are now having some breakfast and getting ready to head back out on the road again. We should make it into FL by today as all we have to drive through is MI and AL. We are just enjoying getting out of Houston and being somewhere different. The kids are just so excited to be at a hotel and on the road for a trip. We hope to do some sight seeing today and not feel to stressed to get into FL. Happying traveling.
